It may be more expensive to maintain when something does go wrong, but its much rarer for something to go wrong on the z than probably your Mazda. My experience with Mazda alone has been a nightmare, and I didn't even own the car. I'll just keep driving the z, not worrying about the milage I put on it rather than risking finding another possibly less reliable car. I've been DDing my z for over 3 years. Far more reliable and fun than my other car that I owned when I got it. I maybe put 10 miles on my other car after having it and the z for about a year and a half. Yeah, it wasn't registered or insured, but it wasn't going to be reliable enough for me to use as a DD, so I eventually sold it. There are still plenty of Z's left should someone hit your car in the rain. I'd rather someone hit me in the Z than the other car solely on the fact that it is safer... way safer. There are a few more reasons to DD it. 164k and still running strong.
